Background

Enterprise Development Unit (EDU) is part of Coastal KZN TVET College. It is one of the main community outreach wings for the college. The unit specializes in training SMME and Community projects such as Co-operatives, business mentorship and AET. It is based at 20 Swinton Road Campus in Mobeni.

The Enterprise Development Unit came to existence in 1997. The need and demand that existed in surrounding community made it necessary for the college to use the already available infrastructure to provide intervention aimed at ensuring economic sustainability for community.

Over the years, capacitating people to start and to improve their businesses has been central to the functions of this unit. In 2005 the unit has upgraded itself from providing soft skills in business training to facilitation of practical core skills i.e. Co-operatives and AET.

• Existing micro and macro enterprises as (partners/clients)
• Public involved in development of SMME’s, co-operatives and related projects as (partners/clients).
